Planning a Visit?

Planning a Visit to Hopewell Baptist Church

Visiting any church for the first time can be a bit intimidating. We understand. We want to put you at ease by answering some of the questions that you might have.

A Note from our Pastor

Thank you for allowing us to present you with a little taste of our church. Hopewell Baptist Church is a wonderful haven for anyone looking for a place of joy, love, and fulfillment. Every Sunday our church is filled with normal people, just like you, who have found a place to learn from God’s Word, to grow spiritually, and to connect with others.

For the past 35 years as the pastor of this great church, I have watched God do amazing things in the lives of many. My family and I are dedicated to the cause and people of this wonderful church. I believe there is a no more precious place on Earth where genuine people are seeking to worship and serve God. Our Lord is continuing to honor that desire by abundantly blessing the ministries and families of our church.

The greatest concern of our church is that everyone have the opportunity to know how to go to Heaven. If you are not sure that you will go to Heaven, I want to extend to you this personal invitation to click How to get to Heaven and explore some reassuring answers from the Bible.

Hopewell Baptist Church is open to everyone regardless of background, ethnicity, or religion. We would love to have you in one of our services very soon as our honored guest.

Pastor Mike Ray

What can I expect?

One of our smiling church greeters will meet you at our main entrance when you walk in. He or she will direct you to the right class or service and will also be able to answer any questions you have.

Our adult Bible classes meet at 10:00 AM. These classes make it so that you do not get “lost in the crowd.” They allow you to meet people that you can identify with, enjoy some coffee and donuts, and hear a practical lesson from God’s Word. Adult Bible classes are one of the best ways to connect and grow with our church.

Our main service begins at 11:00 AM when we all combine in the main auditorium. You will enjoy Christ-honoring music of the choir, ensembles, and soloists, as well as participating in our congregational singing. The music is always followed by a Biblical, practical, challenging Bible message from Pastor Ray. This service is a little over one hour in length.

From Calistoga/St. Helena: Go south on Highway 29, take a right turn on Trower, and then a left turn on Linda Vista Avenue. Hopewell Baptist Church is the second church on the right.

Our address is 3755 Linda Vista Ave. Napa, CA 94558.

Is there a nursery?

At all of our services we provide a safe, clean, and highly staffed nursery for infants and toddlers. For the infants, mothers will receive a pager so that the nursery attendants can easily contact you if there is a need.

Is there something for my children?

For children four years old through sixth grade there are fun, friendly, and Bible-centered Sunday School classes. These classes are staffed with trained, friendly, and well-qualified teachers and helpers who will make church exciting and memorable for your child. We have greeters and ushers located all around the building who will help you find the appropriate nurseries, classes, and services. Our greeters and ushers, located all around the church campus and lobby area, will gladly help you find the right place.

What should I wear?

There is not a dress code at Hopewell Baptist Church for members or guests. Our ministry leaders and many of our church family dress in more traditional “Sunday” dress. However, you will in no way stand out whether you come dressed casually or if you come dressed up. Our goal is that you would feel welcome and comfortable as our guest!

Am I expected to give money?

No. We don’t invite you to attend our church for your offering. We want our service to be a gift to you. We exist as a church family for what we can do for you, not the other way around. You are under no obligation to participate in the offering as our guest.

What if I am not a Baptist?

It is our desire that our church be for anyone who has a desire to know God. Whether you have a Catholic background or Protestant background, whether you consider yourself very religious or not religious at all, you are welcome at our church. Visiting our church does not make you a member or a part of any kind of club. Rest assured, there will be no one at the front door checking to make sure you have a Baptist resume in order to let you in!

Any other questions?

If there’s something we missed on this list, just give us a call, or ask a greeter when you arrive. Whether you’re new to the area, looking for a church home, or it’s been a while since you’ve attended a church of any kind, we hope your first visit with us will be awesome! We exist to serve you and your family, and we are looking forward to meeting you personally. We hope you’ll feel right at home from the very first moment you step inside! Please let us know how we can serve you better, and we hope to meet you this Sunday!
